What is taxi sharing?
"Taxi Share is a green initiative that involves more than one group sharing a taxi or minibus. It relies on our customers accepting other passengers traveling in the same vehicle to similar destinations."
It is when there is more than one person travelling in a taxi, each sharing the same destination but each paying a seperate, DISCOUNTED fare.
What are the benefits of sharing a Taxi?
There are many benefits to sharing a taxi, including
- You will save money if you already use a taxi.
- It helps reduce congestion and pollution on our roads.
- You can share the congestion charge if applicable.
- If you travel on a road with bus and taxi lanes you can save a lot of time too.
- You don't have to worry about organising car shares.
- You will be taken to where you want to be - no long walks from car parks!
- You may also make a new friend!
- It can be a regular occurance if you regularly take a taxi to work or other destination.
Which trips can you share?
You can share any journey! Some examples could be:
- Travelling to work.
- Travelling from rural villages to town.
- Travelling to the airport.
- Getting to hospital.
- Doing the weekly shop or paying the rent.
- Getting the children to and from school.
It can also be used for occasional trips such as:
- Getting to and from Events.
- Getting to and from Brighton/Clacton etc at weekends.
Who Can Use Taxi Share?
Anyone can use Taxi Share.
The idea is to help people to make the most of the convenience of taking a taxi whilst significantly reducing their personal cost.
How do I organise a taxi share?
There are two ways. if you knew someone who was going to a similar destination, you could organise it with them and let us know.
If you didn't know anyone, you could phone us and we could try rearrange something.
